ALL applicants will perform:

• a solo of their choosing that best represents their current playing abilities

Individual applicants will perform:

• an excerpt from Mendelssohn's String Quartet in E minor, 1st movement

 

Pre-formed ensembles will perform:

​

• a movement from any quartet in the standard repertoire, recorded as a group. ​

​

• Guidelines for Repertoire Selection:

  • ​There is no specific piece that Pre-formed ensembles are required to perform; we encourage you to be creative in your selections!​

  • Pieces must be works originally written for String Quartet. No Arrangements or String Orchestra Repertoire will be accepted

  • For newly formed ensembles, we recommend starting with a piece on the level of a Mozart Quartet from the K.155-160 group, or a Haydn Quartet (Op. 76 No.1 is one of our favorites)

  • Please don't hesitate to reach out if you aren't sure if your repertoire is appropriate.​​
