& Education Combined
The collaborative environment of chamber music fosters incredible growth, musically and personally. In addition to producing live chamber music events through our 9th Street Quartet concert series, 9SCM is proudly invested in engaging committed young musicians through our String Quartet Intensive program. We cultivate a collegial environment between our coaches and musicians that encourages personal responsibility and a sense of independence that separates the experience from that of a more traditional youth music enrichment program. String Quartet Intensive members also engage with the community in various outreach performances throughout their season.

WORDS OF PRAISE
"JOE AND I WERE BLOWN AWAY BY THE LEVEL OF PLAYING AT YESTERDAY'S YOUTH INTENSIVE CONCERT. THERE WAS SO MUCH MATURITY OF PLAYING, SUCH A HIGH LEVEL OF MUSICALITY. JUST BEAUTIFUL PLAYING ALL AROUND, AND SUCH PROGRESS. BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE PARTICIPANTS AND THEIR COACHES."
Susan Robinson, SQI Parent & Harpist with the Kennedy Center
Opera House Orchestra
"WE LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOUR QUARTET PROGRAM. IT HAS BEEN A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE FOR OUR FAMILY. I HAVE LOVED SEEING HOW OUR OLDEST SON HAS MATURED IN HIS ENSEMBLE PLAYING. OUR OTHER SON, AS WELL, HAS COME A LONG WAY. HE HATED GOING TO ORCHESTRA, BUT ALWAYS LOOKS FORWARD TO QUARTET. THANK YOU FOR BEING SO DEDICATED AND PASSIONATE ABOUT MUSIC EDUCATION. YOU ARE ALL A BLESSING TO THIS FAMILY."
Rebecca Tate, SQI Parent
"THIS WAS EXTREMELY WELL PLAYED MOZART, HAYDN, ARRIAGA, & BOLOGNE. THEIR [THE STUDENTS'] ENTHUSIASM FOR THE MUSIC, THEIR CONSCIENTIOUS OBEDIENCE TO THE COMPOSER, THEIR COMMUNICATION WITH EACH OTHER DESPITE MASKED FACES, WERE ALL IMPECCABLE."
Eden Brown, Journalist with the Arlington Connection
